Rapid Engineering

Rapid Engineering is situated over at No : 5 & 6 in Amman Nagar, which is part of the Saravanampatti area. It is a pretty straightforward setup we have here. We have two units side by side, and that gives us just enough room to keep our machines and the raw materials we use. Saravanampatti has grown a lot lately with all the IT parks and new buildings, but our little corner in Amman Nagar still feels like the old industrial neighborhood. We do not have a fancy reception area or anyone to answer the phones with a scripted greeting. Usually, if the phone rings, one of us wipes the grease off our hands and picks it up. The shop floor is where we spend ten or twelve hours a day. We do a lot of mechanical work, mostly turning and milling. Some of the tools we use are quite old, but they work just as well as the new ones if you know how to handle them. The rain can be a bit of a nuisance because it gets loud on the tin roof, making it hard to talk. We just focus on the drawings and the metal in front of us. It is a simple life, but we take a certain kind of pride in seeing a finished part leave the shop. We are not interested in being corporate; we just like the engineering side of things and getting the job done right.
