Megaala Granites

You’ll find Megaala Granites at 7-100-B on K.N.P. Road in Karamadai. If you drive down that road, you can’t really miss the stacks of stone sitting in the yard. It’s a dusty kind of job, working with granite all day, and there's usually a film of it on everything. We spend a lot of time outside moving slabs around and checking the pieces for any cracks. Karamadai is a nice enough place, though it’s a bit away from the main city buzz. Our yard is usually full of different colors and patterns of stone. It’s heavy work, so everyone who works here is used to the physical side of things and having sore muscles. We don’t have a fancy showroom with air conditioning or soft chairs; it’s mostly just the outdoor area and a small office where we keep the books and the phone. When the trucks come in to load or unload, it gets quite hectic and the dust flies everywhere. We use some heavy machinery to move the bigger pieces, and you have to be careful where you stand. The weather is a big factor for us since so much happens outdoors. Rain can slow things down, and the sun can be quite brutal in the afternoon heat. We take breaks when we can, usually sitting in the shade for a bit with some water. It’s a basic operation, but it’s ours, and we’ve been at it for a good few years now on K.N.P. Road.
