M N Engineering

Our workshop, M N Engineering, is located right by the SR Railway Gate at No. 85. You can hear the bells ringing and the trains passing by all through the day on Anna Veethi. It is a loud place to work, but it keeps us on our toes and moving. The Pn Palayam Road is usually jammed with traffic, so we tend to stay inside and focus on the machines. The floor is often covered in a bit of oil or metal shavings, no matter how much we try to sweep it up. We do not have a fancy receptionist or a waiting room with magazines. People usually just walk up to the gate and shout to get our attention over the noise of the street. We handle a lot of different engineering jobs, mostly just manual work that takes time and a bit of patience. Most of the guys have been working here long enough that they can tell if a machine is running wrong just by the sound it makes. We grab our lunch from the small stalls on Anna Veethi and sit around the workbench to eat. It is not a glamorous life, but it is what we know. We spend our time welding, cutting, and measuring things until they are exactly right. When the railway gate closes and the traffic backs up, we just keep working until the shift is over. It is a practical, no-nonsense shop in a busy part of town.
