Hotel Priyam

If you are around the Vadavalli area in Coimbatore, you probably know the MGPS Shopping Mall. It is a central spot for people living out this way near Marudhamalai Main Road. Hotel Priyam is tucked away on the ground floor of that mall, right below the Bank of Baroda. It is a bit of a funny spot because people are always coming and going from the bank or doing their grocery shopping in the mall. We see a lot of families on the weekends and office workers during the middle of the day. Coimbatore is growing fast, and Vadavalli has changed so much since I was younger. This part of the road is always packed with bikes and cars heading toward the temple or back into the city. We don't really do the whole corporate thing with uniforms and rehearsed lines. We just talk to people like they are our neighbors, because mostly, they are. The mall gets quite cool with the air conditioning, which is a relief when the Coimbatore sun is beating down on the asphalt outside. We spend our days making sure the tables are wiped and the food is coming out of the kitchen like it should. It is busy, and sometimes we run out of certain items if the lunch rush is bigger than we expected. We just take it one day at a time and try to keep the place running smoothly for whoever walks in.
