Granites India

Our place is at No:1, Podanur Main Road in Konavaikalpalayam. It is a bit of a dusty stretch of road, but we have plenty of space for the granite. Most mornings are spent checking the stock and seeing what came in on the trailers. Granite is heavy and hard to move, so we spend a lot of time on the crane or just using our hands when we have to. The sun hits the slabs and you can see all the patterns, which is the only nice part about the heat out here. We don't do much advertising. People usually just see the yard when they are heading down Podanur Main Road and pull over. There is a lot of noise from the grinders and the trucks. We have been here for a bit and know most of the guys who do the hauling. Sometimes we sit in the shade of the slabs during lunch just to get out of the sun for a minute. It is not a complicated business. You get the stone, you show it to whoever walks in, and you try to get it delivered on time. The yard is usually full of pieces of all sizes, and we spend a good chunk of the day just rearranging things to make room for more. It is physical work, and by the evening we are all pretty tired. It is just how things go for us here.
