Out here in Thekkalur, things move a bit slower than in the city. Our place is at 9/196 in Kamanaicken Palayam. It’s a simple building. Most of our customers are locals from Avinashi or the nearby farms. They bring in things that have stopped working after years of use. I try to fix what I can. The air here feels a bit cleaner, though the road gets dusty. I have a small desk where I do all the soldering. My eyesight isn't what it used to be, so I use a big magnifying glass now. We don't have any marketing or posters on the walls. It’s just the bare bricks and some shelves I built myself. People know where we are. They don't need a map. Sometimes I spend the whole morning just cleaning parts. It’s quiet work. I like that I can hear the birds outside when there are no cars. We don't sell the newest gadgets you see on TV. We deal with the practical stuff people actually need. My wife brings me lunch every day around one. It’s a routine that works for me. If a part isn't available, we just wait for the delivery truck that comes once a week. There is no rush here. We just do the work as it comes. It is a peaceful life in Coimbatore district and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else right now.
