About Durga Marbles – Building & Construction Material in Coimbatore
Durga Marbles is right there on Sathy Road, just across the way from the G.P. Theater. If you have ever been to Gandhi Puram, you know how loud and crowded it gets. Between the movie crowds and the local buses, there is never a quiet moment during the day. We have these massive slabs of marble leaning against the walls. They are heavy and cold to the touch even when it is hot outside. I spend a lot of time walking around them, making sure nothing is getting scratched or cracked. The dust from the stone gets into everything, even my hair and clothes. I have lived in Gandhi Puram for years, so I am very used to the fast pace. People come in after they watch a movie sometimes just to look around and touch the polished stone. We have all sorts of stone in stock, some with patterns that look like clouds and others that are just plain grey. I personally like the darker ones better because they do not show the dirt as easily. The shop is at 953-953, so we have a decent amount of space, but it always feels cramped with all that rock. My hands are usually rough from handling the sharp edges of the slabs. We use a lot of water to keep the saws cool when we have to trim a piece down. It makes the floor very slick, so you have to watch your step.
