Buddies Cafe

Buddies Cafe is right there at 40 Pollachi Main Road. If you know the Othakalmandapam area, you definitely know where we are located. It is a very busy road and there is always something happening right outside our window. We set this place up because we wanted somewhere local for people to just be. It is not a fancy bistro or a high-end restaurant. We have some tables, some basic chairs, and we serve whatever we have ready for the day. Sometimes we run out of the popular stuff early if it turns out to be a busy afternoon. The staff is mostly just local kids from the neighborhood and some of my own family members. We don't have a uniform or a big training manual. We just try to be decent and kind to whoever walks through the door. The traffic on Pollachi Main Road can be a bit much sometimes, but it brings in a lot of different people. We get many students from nearby and people who are just passing through on their way to another town. The shop is a bit noisy, and maybe the paint is peeling a little bit in the back corner, but it feels like a real place because it is one. We didn't want to make it look like a boring chain. We just keep the doors open and hope the snacks are good enough for people to come back.
