We are based out in Village Dorasar, not too far from the Lakhana Dham Mandir. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here if you’re coming from the main towns, but the temple is a good landmark for people who get lost. Being a Sainik school, things are a bit more structured than your average neighborhood school. We have a bit of a routine that everyone has to follow, but it’s not as scary as some people think. It’s mostly about getting the boys to show up on time and keep their uniforms somewhat clean, which is a battle in itself given the dust around Dorasar. The village is quiet, and we have a fair amount of space, which is nice for the drills and the sports. The buildings are old-fashioned and a bit plain, but they’re solid. We don’t have much in the way of luxury here. The food is basic, the beds are simple, and the classrooms are built for work, not for lounging. We see a lot of kids from different backgrounds come through these gates. Some of them find the discipline hard at first, but most of them get used to it after a few weeks. We just try to give them a bit of backbone and some decent knowledge before they head out into the world. It’s a humble place, despite the name, and we just keep the wheels turning day after day.
