If you head down Bas Mahlan Road in Tamkore, you will find Bds Public School. We are based in the Jhunjhunu district, which is a place known for its history and old buildings. Our school is a bit more modern than the old havelis, but it’s still very much a local institution. The road outside can be a bit dusty, and we often have to sweep the entrance multiple times a day. Inside, the rooms are plain and practical. We have enough space for the classes, and the children seem to like the atmosphere. It’s not a fancy place with air conditioning or anything like that, but we have fans and big windows that let in the air. The staff here is mostly from around Tamkore or the nearby villages, so we all speak the same language and understand the local way of life. We don't try to be something we’re not. It’s just a school where we teach the basics and try to keep things organized. In the afternoons, when the sun starts to go down, the shadows on Bas Mahlan Road get long, and that’s when we usually finish up for the day. It’s a quiet life for the most part. We see the same parents every day at the gate, and we’ve become a fixed part of the community over the years. It’s just regular work in a regular town. We don't have many big events, but we keep the rhythm of the school year going steady for the sake of the local families.
