Our place is Chetak Marble Pvt. Ltd. and we are located at 48/6 Kumbhanagar in Chittorgarh. Being in Chittorgarh means we are around stone all the time. The yard is where we spend most of our hours. It’s a lot of manual labor. We unload trucks and organize the marble slabs by size and color. It’s not a clean job. There is water and mud and stone dust everywhere you look. We have a small group of guys working here. We’ve known each other for years. People come to Kumbhanagar to look at what we’ve got. We don't have any big sales pitches. We just tell them the price and where the stone came from. Sometimes we have to cut pieces down for a specific order. That makes a lot of noise. We usually have the radio playing in the background but you can barely hear it. The days are long and the work is hard on the back. We take breaks when we can. In the evenings we lock up the gate and head home. We don't do anything special for marketing. People just find us or hear about us from someone else. It’s a basic setup and it works for us. We just focus on keeping the slabs moving and making sure we don't break anything valuable. That's about it for our daily life here.
