Akj Granites Pvt. Ltd.

We set up Akj Granites Pvt. Ltd. over in the New RIICO Industrial Area, specifically at plots F-121 and 122 B. It’s a big space but it feels small once you start filling it up with huge granite blocks. Granite is much tougher to work with than marble, so we have to use better blades. We spend most of our time out in the yard. The sun can be really brutal in the afternoons, so we try to get the heavy lifting done in the morning. We have a couple of big gantry cranes that do the hard work of moving the stones around. It is always noisy here, but you get used to it after a few weeks. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to do a good job for the people who buy from us. Most of our customers are regulars who have been coming to us for years. They know we stay at the yard until the last truck is loaded. My brother and I manage the daily stuff, from talking to the suppliers to checking the polish on the finished slabs. We don't use any fancy computer systems for the inventory; we just keep track of it in a big ledger on the main desk. It works fine for us. Sometimes the power goes out and everything stops, which is when we sit and have some tea.
