Chunidevi Progressive Farmers Producer Company Limited

We operate out of Mamta Singh’s place in Gram Chakmali. It’s part of the Karvi area, right in the heart of the tehsil. This is a company made up of farmers who wanted to do things a bit differently. We call ourselves progressive because we try to use better methods for our crops, but we are still just regular people working the soil. The office is really just a meeting point for the members. We talk about what seeds are working and how to deal with the pests. It’s a very local thing. Everyone in the village knows where the office is. We don't have a receptionist or a big lobby. Usually, you just walk in and find someone at a wooden desk or standing outside talking. We deal with whatever crops are in season. It’s a lot of manual work and checking the fields every morning. Sometimes the sun is too hot and we have to slow down, but the work always gets done. We are trying to make sure the farmers in Chakmali have a voice. It’s not always easy to run a company when you are used to just farming, but we are learning as we go. We don't have any polished brochures or fancy speeches. We just show up every day and do our best with what we have. It’s honest and it’s ours. We aren't fancy, we are just folks from Karvi doing our daily chores.
