Bhairavchura Farmer Producer Company Limited is run out of the house of Rahini Kanta Chakraborty in Boitamari. We are just local people from the village and the surrounding area who decided to work together. Farming in Boitamari can be tough, especially when you are trying to do everything by yourself. We put this group together so we could share the burden a little bit. We spend a lot of time talking at the house, planning what to plant and how to deal with the local markets. It’s not always organized. Sometimes we all talk at once and nothing gets decided for hours. But we are all in the same boat. We know the land here and we know what it takes to get a crop to grow. The post office and the police station are nearby, so everyone knows where to find us. We don't have any big secrets or fancy ways of doing things. We just use the tools we have and the knowledge we’ve picked up over the years. Some years are better than others, that’s just the way it is. We help each other out with labor when it’s time to harvest because nobody can do it all alone. It’s a community thing more than a business thing, even if we have the official name now. We just want to make a living from our land and keep the bills paid without too much trouble from the outside.
