Our place is tucked away on Akber Street in Triplicane. If you’ve ever walked through these lanes, you know how crowded it gets, especially near house number 18/56. Zahas Food Industries Pvt. Ltd has been operating out of this spot for some time now, mostly dealing with different food products that people use every day. It’s a small team here, just a handful of us who know each other well. The morning starts early because that’s when it’s easiest to get things delivered before the streets get too packed with people and rickshaws. We don't have a big sign or a shiny lobby for visitors. It’s more of a practical space where we get the processing and packing done. Sometimes it feels like we’re tripping over each other when a big shipment arrives, but we manage to find a system that works. Most of our neighbors are regular families, so we try not to make too much noise late at night. The air in Triplicane always has a mix of smells, and our unit adds its own scent to the mix. We aren't trying to be anything big or fancy. We just focus on getting the food items ready and out the door to the shops. It’s a lot of manual labor and keeping an eye on the details, but that’s the job. We like being part of this old neighborhood and knowing the people around us.
