Y2A Food Products

Our small unit is at 19/7 on Therodum Street, which is in the Poonamallee and Thiruverkadu area. It is a bit of a maze of streets around here, but we like the location. We make different food products and the whole street can usually tell what we are working on by the smell. We don’t have any high-end machinery, just basic equipment that we have learned to use over the years. It is mostly manual work, so our hands are always busy. There is a lot of cleaning involved in food work, so someone is always mopping or wiping something down. We get our ingredients from the local markets nearby. The team is just a few of us, and we talk while we work to pass the time. Therodum Street gets quite lively during festival times because of the temple nearby. We sometimes have to move our delivery vehicle because the road is narrow and others need to pass. It is a bit cramped inside the shop with all the supplies, but we manage. We aren’t looking to be some giant company. We just want to make stuff that people enjoy eating and keep our small business going. It’s a lot of long hours on our feet, but we are used to it by now. We close up when the work is finished and start again the next morning. It is hard work but we are proud of what we do.
