We are based out of W-254 in the Annanagar Western Extension. Most of what happens here involves cashews and getting them ready for transport. It is a busy spot and there is always the heavy smell of nuts in the air. We have been in this location for a while now. The setup is mostly for sorting, grading, and packing. It is a lot of manual work and we have a good group of people who know how to spot the different qualities by sight. Sometimes the shipments arrive late from the farms and we have to work extra hours to stay on track. The office part of the building is small because most of the room is needed for storage. Annanagar is a decent place to work from, though traffic can be a real headache in the late afternoons. We handle the export side of things too, which means a lot of paperwork and making sure the bags are sealed right for the journey. We don't do much in terms of retail, it's mostly bulk stuff moving out to other cities. The machines for shelling and roasting take up most of the floor space. It is a steady business and we just keep our heads down and do the work. The name on the gate is a bit long but everyone around here just knows us for the cashews. We usually start the day checking the moisture levels in the latest batch. It’s honest work and we try to keep things simple.
