Eve's Choice

If you are looking for Eve's Choice, you have to head up to the first floor over on Ellaiamman Koil Street. We are at number 76 in Adyar, which is a pretty lively part of town. The stairs are a bit narrow, so you have to be careful when you're coming up. It’s just a small space packed with everything we manage to get in stock. Most days it’s just me and one other person folding clothes or rearranging the displays. We get a lot of local women coming in after they finish their shopping downstairs or at the market. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded when a few groups come in at once, but we make it work. The fan in the corner stays on all day because it gets stuffy. We don’t really do big advertisements; people just seem to find us by word of mouth or by seeing the sign from the road. I spend a lot of time talking to the regulars about what they need or what happened in the neighborhood. It’s more like a community spot than a big store. We try to keep things organized, though sometimes the new arrivals end up in piles on the counter for a day or two. It’s just how it goes when things get busy. We open up mid-morning and usually stay until the street lights come on outside.
