Our place is located at Plot No. 110 and 111 in Burma Colony, which is just off the OMR in Perungudi. If you know this part of Chennai, you know it’s filled with lots of different companies and small industrial plots. Burma Colony is a bit more tucked away from the main road, which helps with the noise from all the OMR traffic. We have two plots joined together, so there’s enough room for our equipment and the desks we use for the paperwork. It’s a practical space, not something you’d see in a magazine. We mostly deal with controls and technical stuff, so the office usually has parts or tools lying around on some of the tables. The walk from the main road is about five or ten minutes, depending on how fast you move. In the summers, it gets really hot on that walk because there isn’t much shade. We have a small area where we keep the water bottles and a kettle for coffee. The neighbors are mostly other businesses like ours, so it stays pretty professional during the day. Sometimes there’s some noise from the construction sites nearby, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We just show up, do the work that’s waiting for us, and head home when it’s finished. It’s a straightforward way to spend the week. We keep a small notebook by the door for visitors to sign in when they arrive.
