Uma Crane

We have been here at Marina Square for a while now. If you are looking for us, we are right across from Santhome Church on the main high road. It gets pretty busy out there with the traffic and people going to the church, but we like the spot. Our office is at units 26 and 27. It isn’t anything fancy, just a place where we keep the paperwork in order and answer the phones. Most of the real work happens outside with the cranes. People in Mylapore usually know where we are because of the landmark. Sometimes the salt air from the beach nearby makes things rust a bit faster, so we spend a lot of time cleaning the gear. It is a family-run kind of thing, mostly. We don't have a big corporate team, just a few of us who know how to handle the heavy lifting. Usually, we are open early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. My uncle used to run things, but now it is more of a group effort. We keep the cranes ready to go whenever a call comes in for a construction site or moving something heavy. It’s loud near the road, but you get used to it. We just try to get the jobs done without any fuss. If you drop by, you might find us drinking tea near the entrance. That is how it goes here every day.
