Working with fishmeal is a specific kind of business. It involves a lot of processing and making sure everything is dried and ground correctly. The smell is something you get used to after a couple of days, though visitors usually notice it right away. Our facility is a practical place. We have the machinery we need and a bit of space for storage. It’s mostly about managing the flow of raw material coming in from the coast and getting the finished meal out to the customers. We are an OPC which means it's a smaller, more personal operation. I started this because I saw a need for good quality meal in the poultry and fish farm sectors. We don't have a big marketing budget or a sales team. Most of our business comes from people who know us or heard about us from someone else on Redhills Road. We just focus on getting the product right and making sure the bags are weighed correctly. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and watching the machines. We keep the place running six days a week. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s important for the food chain. We just keep our heads down and do our part for the industry.
