Tina Foods

Our little place is tucked away at 54,1 on 3rd Street in Nungambakkam. It is not a very big shop, but we manage to fit a lot in here. Most days start with us moving boxes around to make space for people to walk through. The humidity in Chennai can be a bit much, so we usually have the old ceiling fans clicking away at full speed. It is mostly just a few of us here. We spend our time checking the bags and making sure the labels are on straight, though sometimes they end up a bit crooked. People from the neighborhood drop in quite often just to see what came in that morning. The street outside is usually busy with scooters and people walking to work. We have been here for a while now, and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we are too busy with the daily chores to get to it. We do not have any fancy displays or bright neon signs. It is just a plain room with wooden shelves where we keep the food items. Sometimes the delivery truck gets stuck in the narrow lane, which causes a bit of a stir with the neighbors. We just try to get through the orders and keep things moving. It is honest work and it keeps us occupied from morning until we pull the shutters down at night.
