Ticketmail is a bit different because we don’t have a traditional walk-in shopfront like a grocery store. We operate mostly online or over the telephone. Our base is in the Chennai 600001 area, but our work happens on the internet and through phone calls. It’s a lot of sitting at desks and looking at screens. We handle all sorts of tickets and bookings. Even though we are tech-based, it still feels like a local operation because we are right here in the city. The phones ring quite a bit, and there is always a backlog of emails to get through. It can be a bit repetitive, checking dates and prices all day long, but it’s what we do. We don't have a big sign on a main road, so we rely on people finding us through the web or calling us up. It’s a quiet office compared to the noisy streets of Chennai outside. We try to be clear with people about what’s available. Sometimes the systems are slow, which is frustrating, but we just manage it. It’s just a few of us here making sure things run smoothly. We don’t really do marketing; we just focus on the orders that come through. It’s a modern way of working, I suppose, but we still have that old-fashioned way of just getting the job done one step at a time. That's how we spend our hours here.
