Tastes From States

You can find Tastes From States at Plot No.5 in Jaya Plaza. We’re in Sivasakthi Nagar, Annanur, right near the Ramar Kovil. The temple is a good landmark because people always know where that is. Our shop is a bit of a mix of everything. We try to bring in stuff from different parts of the country because everyone misses the food from their home. It’s a lot of work coordinating with different people to get things delivered on time. The shelves are always a bit crowded, and sometimes we put things in the wrong spot, but we eventually find them. We aren't a big supermarket; it's more like a local store where we know half the people who walk through the door. The floor gets a bit dusty from all the foot traffic, especially on festival days when the temple is busy. We have a few regular tea blends too, since that’s what most people ask for first. The lighting in Jaya Plaza is a bit dim in the evenings, but we stay open until the last customer leaves. It’s just me and a couple of others working here. We don’t have a marketing department or anything like that. We just talk to people and listen to what they want us to bring in next. It’s a busy life, but it’s interesting to see all the different things that come through our doors.
