Our office is on the 3rd floor at No 283 on Pantheon Road in Egmore. It is a bit of a climb up the stairs, especially when we are carrying parts or heavy manuals. The building is older and the hallways are narrow. Being in Egmore means we are close to a lot of things, but the noise from the street below never really stops. We deal with machine tools, so there are always catalogs and technical drawings spread across the tables. It is not a showroom; it is more of a workspace where we handle the business side of things. We spend a lot of time on the phone or writing down orders in our notebooks. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we haven't gotten around to it yet. Sometimes the lift in the building acts up, so we just use the stairs. It keeps us moving during the day. We have a small window that looks out over the street, and we watch the traffic pile up during the rush hour. Most of our visitors are people who have been in the trade for a long time and know exactly what they need. We do not do much in the way of advertising because word of mouth seems to work well enough for us. It is a quiet place inside compared to the chaos outside on Pantheon Road. We just keep things running and handle the paperwork as it comes in.
