T V S Rice Traders

Our place, T V S Rice Traders, is tucked into the G/B section on Market Road right in the middle of Koyambedu. If you know anything about Koyambedu, you know it is always packed and moving. There are trucks everywhere and the smell of the market is something you never quite forget. We spend our days surrounded by tall stacks of rice bags that reach almost to the ceiling. It’s a tight space, but we make it work. Every morning starts with the sound of shutters going up all along the road. We get a lot of foot traffic here because people are always coming to the market for their supplies. It can get pretty chaotic when the big deliveries arrive and we have to clear space on the floor. We don’t bother with anything fancy. The walls are just plain and we use a simple wooden desk for all the paperwork. Sometimes the heat in the market gets a bit much, so we keep a small fan running in the corner, but it doesn't do a lot. We know most of the other traders around here, so there is always someone to talk to or share a tea with when things slow down for a minute. It’s a hard way to earn a living with all the lifting, but it’s what we’ve always done. We just keep things moving and try to stay out of the way of the big lorries.
