You can find S.V. Curry at No. 18/12, Palayathan Street in Alandur. Chennai is a big city, but Alandur has its own feel to it. Our place is right in the middle of a residential area, so we see our neighbors every single day. We deal with food, so the smell of spices is always hanging in the air around the shop. It’s a small operation. We don’t have hundreds of employees, just a few of us who know the recipes and the routine. We spend a lot of time grinding spices and mixing things up. It’s dusty work and your hands usually end up smelling like turmeric or chili for days. We don’t mind it. It’s better than sitting in a cubicle. The building is an old one, with narrow stairs and some cracks in the floor, but it’s sturdy. We don't have a website that we update or anything like that. If people want to know something, they usually just walk in and ask us. We sell to the local families and some of the small eateries nearby. It’s about as local as it gets. We don't use fancy packaging either, just the basic stuff that keeps things fresh. We’re just regular people making curry products in Alandur. It’s what we do, and we’ve been doing it for a long time now.
