Suresh Watch Co has been at No 31, Ranganathan Street for many years. If you’ve ever been to T Nagar, you know just how crowded and loud Ranganathan Street is. It’s a constant sea of people, and our shop is right in the middle of all that chaos. We have a small storefront that’s mostly filled with watches of all shapes and sizes. It’s an old-fashioned kind of place. We have the tiny tools for opening up watch backs and the little drawers filled with different sized batteries and pins. A lot of our work is just small repairs, like fixing a broken strap or replacing a dead cell. We also sell a variety of wristwatches, from simple ones for kids to more traditional styles for older folks. The shop is narrow, and during the peak shopping season, it can get very cramped inside. We are used to the heat and the noise of the hawkers outside. We don’t have a website or a marketing team; we just have our spot on the street. People know us because we’ve been here so long. There’s something nice about working with your hands, squinting at those tiny clockwork gears. It takes patience and a steady hand. We just keep doing what we know how to do, day after day, in one of the busiest streets in the world. It’s a simple life and a simple business, and that’s the way we like it.
