Dushyanth Telecom is located at 27, Pillaiyar Koil Street in Triplicane. If you’ve ever been to Triplicane, you know how narrow the streets are and how many people are always walking around. Our shop is right in the middle of all that. We have a counter at the front and then a lot of shelves in the back filled with phone parts, batteries, and old boxes. It’s a bit of a squeeze when we have more than two or three people inside at once. The ceiling fan spins all day but it still gets quite warm in here during the afternoons. We spend most of our time fixing screens or trying to find a specific spare part that a customer needs. Pillaiyar Koil Street is always lively with the temple nearby and the local vendors shouting their prices. We’ve been here at number 27 for a long time, so we know most of the people who walk past our door. It’s not a shiny showroom with bright lights and fancy displays. It’s just a place where we do repairs and talk to the locals. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use torches to finish what we’re doing. We just take things as they come and try to get the phones back to their owners as fast as we can. It’s a busy, humble spot in a very old part of town.
