Srk Fruits India Private Limited is located right in the middle of the chaos at Shop No. TD 32 in the Anna Fruit Market. If you’ve ever been to Koyambedu, you know it never really sleeps. We are there at three in the morning when the trucks start rolling in from the farms. It is loud, crowded, and there is mud on the ground when it rains, but that’s just how the market is. We deal with all kinds of fruits, whatever is in season really. Our shop is just a stall filled with crates stacked up to the ceiling. We spend a lot of time checking the fruit to see what's ripe and what needs another day. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting boxes and moving things around so the customers can see what we’ve got. We don’t wear suits or sit in air-conditioned offices. Most of us are in t-shirts and slippers, trying to stay cool while we bargain with buyers. The market is a tough place to work but it’s honest. We’ve seen other shops come and go, but we’ve stuck it out here at TD 32. We don’t have any fancy brochures. Our product is right there in the crate for anyone to see. Sometimes the prices change every day depending on the weather or how many trucks showed up. We just try to keep up with it and get the fruit sold.
