Five Stars Super Market

At Five Stars Super Market, we are located on Pantheon Road in Egmore. The address can be a bit confusing because it has a New No 101 and an Old No 60, so people sometimes hesitate when they are looking for us. Egmore is an old part of the city with a lot of history, and Pantheon Road is always packed with cars and pedestrians. Working in the supermarket means our days are dictated by the arrival of stock and the needs of the people walking in. We spend hours unpacking boxes, checking expiration dates, and making sure the shelves don't look empty. It’s a lot of walking back and forth on the tiled floors. The building is one of those older structures that has been adapted over time. We have to be careful with how we stack things because space is always at a premium. The morning shift starts with sweeping the front and making sure the lights are all working. It’s a lot of routine, but you get to see all sorts of people from the neighborhood. Some customers have been coming here since the days it was still called by its old number. We don't have a lot of time for sitting around. Between managing the till and keeping the aisles clear, there is always something that needs fixing or cleaning. It’s a busy life on a busy street, but it’s what we know.
