Our place is tucked away on First Street in Thiruvallur Nagar. If you know Kottur, you might have passed by No. 15/1 without noticing much. Growing mushrooms takes a lot of attention to the temperature and the dampness, so we spend most of our time inside the sheds checking on things. It’s quiet work, really. We’ve been at this for a bit now, learning as we go. Some days the mushrooms grow faster than we expect, and other days it’s a bit slower. That’s just nature for you. We don’t have a big fancy storefront or anything like that. It’s just a practical space where the growing happens. The neighbors are used to our small delivery vans coming in and out in the mornings. We try to keep the place tidy, but when you’re dealing with compost and soil, it’s a bit of a struggle. Still, we like what we do. It’s honest work. Most of us here just live nearby, so it’s a short walk to the facility. We don't spend money on big ads or anything. We just hope the mushrooms look good when they get to the shops.
