Sai Super Stores

We opened Sai Super Stores here in the Chennai 600001 area because we wanted a place where the local families could just walk in and get what they need. It is a bit of a tight squeeze inside sometimes when we get the morning milk delivery or when the rice sacks arrive. We spend a lot of our time just unpacking boxes and putting things on the shelves. It is not like those big supermarkets you see in malls. Here, we know most of the people who come in by their first names. We have been working in this neighborhood for quite a while now. The day starts early, usually before the sun is even up, so we can be ready when the first customers come by. We don't really do any advertising or anything like that. If we have good stock and the price is fair, people come back. That is pretty much how we see it. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use flashlights, but that is just part of living and working in this part of town. We keep a big ledger for the regular customers who pay at the end of the month. It's just me and a couple of helpers most days. We keep things simple and try to make sure we don't run out of the basics like dal or oil. It's a busy life, but it keeps us going every day without much rest or any complicated business plans.
