Down in Ambattur, on Sindhunathi Salai at number 41, you’ll find Srimuktha Automobiles. This area is pretty industrial and busy, so there’s always something happening around us. Our shop is basically a big garage where we handle all sorts of mechanical stuff. It’s not a place for people who are afraid of getting their clothes dirty. We have tools scattered around most of the day because we’re always in the middle of a job. The walls are covered in old calendars and notes we’ve scribbled about different engines we’ve worked on. We don’t have a front desk or a receptionist. You just walk in and talk to whoever isn't under a car at that moment. We deal with a lot of heavy traffic from the nearby factories, so we see a lot of wear and tear on the vehicles that come in. The heat in Ambattur can be pretty bad in the afternoons, so we usually have a big industrial fan blowing, which makes it hard to hear anything else. We aren't trying to be a high-end service center. We just want to fix the problem so the driver can get back on the road. Most of our customers are regulars who have been coming to us for years. They know we don't use big words or charge for things that aren't broken. It’s just honest work in a loud, greasy shop. That’s about all there is to it.
