You can find us at 83, Jtn Naidu Illam on Sivanthiya Avenue in Nerkuntram. We run a combined super market and fruit shop here under the name Sri Ragavendra Super Market & Palamuthir Nilayam. It’s a busy place because everyone needs their daily groceries and fresh produce. The fruit comes in early in the morning, and we spend a lot of time sorting through it. It’s a lot of lifting and moving boxes around. The shelves are usually full of all the basic things people look for. We’ve been in Nerkuntram for a good while. The neighborhood is fairly quiet, except for our street which gets a lot of foot traffic. We have a few people working here to help customers find what they need. It’s not a high-tech store. We still use old-fashioned scales for some things. The building is a bit older, but it serves its purpose. We try to keep things tidy, but with so many items, it’s a constant battle. Sometimes the crates stack up in the aisle when we are busy. We just move them as fast as we can. It’s a real family-style operation. We don’t have any grand plans, just to keep the shop open and the shelves stocked. If the weather is nice, we put some of the fruit displays outside on the pavement. It’s a simple life running a shop like this. The floor has a few cracked tiles in the corner, but we just watch our step.
