About Sri Gopalakrishna Modern Rice Mill – Food & Beverages in Chennai
Being right near the Redhills Bus Stand means it is always noisy here at Sri Gopalakrishna Modern Rice Mill. The buses go by all day and the dust kicks up, but that is just part of life on Gnt Road. We’ve got the machinery running pretty much from sunrise. It's a loud place, you have to shout sometimes to be heard over the hullabaloo of the mill. We handle a lot of grain coming in from the nearby fields. Farmers know where to find us because we’ve been at No. 219 for years. The building is big and holds a lot of heat, but it fits everything we need. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back. Redhills is a busy area, and being so close to the station makes it easy for people to find us, though parking can be a bit of a headache. We don't do much advertising. Most people just hear about us from their neighbors or see the sacks piled up. It's honest work, getting the rice ready. The floors are always covered in a bit of husk, no matter how much we sweep. That’s just how a rice mill is. We keep things simple and try to help everyone who brings their crop in. It’s a local rhythm we’ve gotten used to over time. We just want to keep the mill going for as long as people need it.
