Saravana Dhall Mill

We are located on the first floor at 98/88, Kamdar Nagar, Third Street. It’s right in the heart of Mahalingapuram, and if you’ve walked down this street, you’ve probably passed us without thinking much about it. Saravana Dhall Mill isn't a giant operation with hundreds of workers. We are a more modest setup where the work is hands-on and the days are long. Being on the first floor means we see a bit of the street life from the windows, which is nice when things get a bit repetitive. The smell of the dhall is something you just get used to after a while; it’s part of the furniture now. We spend our time managing the milling and the sales, making sure the bags are filled and the quality is decent. It’s a lot of manual record-keeping and talking to suppliers on the phone. Sometimes the noise from the street can get a bit much, but it’s better than being in a silent office where you can hear a pin drop. We like the bustle. Our regulars know exactly where to find us, and they usually stop for a quick chat before getting on with their day. We don't have any big corporate slogans or fancy brochures. We just open up the shutters, do the work that’s waiting for us, and try to keep things running as smoothly as possible. It’s just a regular local mill doing its part.
