Sa Ri Ga Ma...Institute Of Music & Dance

We are located on Audiyappa Street in Chintadripet. It’s a bit of a maze back here, but we are right behind the Jain Temple and the Dharmaraja Temple. You can usually hear the bells from the temples while we are in the middle of a lesson. We’ve got this space at No 15/37 where we teach music and dance. It’s not a huge building, just a few rooms where kids and adults come to learn their steps or their notes. The floors are a bit worn down from all the dancing, which I guess is a good sign. There is always a lot of noise, between the drums and the singing and the traffic outside. We don't have fancy air conditioning in every room, just some fans that work pretty hard in the summer. People usually find us through word of mouth or because they live in the neighborhood. It’s a regular part of the day for us to see students arriving with their instrument cases or their dance bags. The street is narrow, so it gets crowded during the evening hours when everyone is coming for class. We don’t really do much in the way of big advertising. We just open the doors and start the lessons. It’s been like that for a while now. It’s a local place for local people, and that is how we like it. Most of the time it’s loud, but it’s a good kind of loud.
