Aerollerz Dance Units

Aerollerz Dance Units is located at No 40 on the second floor of a building on Rama Street. We are right opposite the Nungambakkam Republic Park, which is great because there is a lot of green space just across the road. Since we are on the second floor, you have to walk up some stairs, but it’s good exercise for the dancers anyway. The studio is a large open room with mirrors on one wall. It isn't the most modern place you've ever seen—the floor has some scuffs from years of shoes moving across it, but it’s a solid floor for dancing. We started this because we wanted a place in Nungambakkam where people could just come and move. Some days the music is loud and you can hear it from the street, and other days it’s just quiet practice. We don't have a fancy lobby or a bunch of staff in uniforms. It’s usually just one of us teaching a class and another person sitting by the door with a clipboard. The park across the way is a good landmark for people who haven't been here before. We get a lot of noise from the traffic on the main road, but once the music starts, you don't really notice it. It’s a simple life here, just teaching steps and keeping the rhythm. We like it that way.
