You can find us at No:2 on Indira Street in the Varatharaja Puram area of Poonmalli. Rr Rice Industries has been operating here for quite some time now. Being in the rice business means there is always a bit of white dust on everything, no matter how much we sweep the floors. The machines make a steady thumping sound that you stop hearing after about ten minutes of being inside. We get big trucks coming in with paddy and smaller ones leaving with bags of finished rice. Indira Street is usually quiet until the transport arrives and blocks the way for a bit. The building is basically a large shed with high ceilings and some small rooms for the office stuff. We don't have much in the way of decoration in there. Just some old calendars on the wall and a few plastic chairs for when people come to talk about prices. The air smells like toasted grain most of the time. We have a small crew of guys who handle the heavy lifting. They have been with us for years and know exactly how to stack the 25kg bags so they don't fall over. Poonmalli is a good spot for this kind of work because it is easy to get to the main roads. We aren't looking to become some massive corporation. We just want to keep the mill running and make sure the rice looks good before it goes out.
