R M P Food Products

Our workshop is at 693-A, Palayathamman Koil Street. It’s located in Manoj Nagar, which is part of the Gerugambakkam area. The street is usually busy because of the temple nearby. R M P Food Products is a family-run kind of thing. We don't have a board of directors or anything like that. It’s just us and some local helpers. We spend a lot of time on the floor, sitting on mats and sorting through grains and spices. The smell in the room is always strong, but we’ve gotten used to it. We use old-style grinders that make a bit of a racket. Sometimes the neighbors complain, so we try to finish the loud work before noon. The building is an old one-story structure with a tin roof. When it rains, you can't hear yourself think inside. We don't have a fancy delivery van, just a small cart and a motorcycle. We do everything ourselves, from the sourcing to the final sealing of the bags. It is a lot of heavy lifting. Manoj Nagar is a nice place to work because everyone is friendly. We often share tea with the people from the shop next door. We don't have any big plans to expand or move. We are happy right here on Palayathamman Koil Street. It is a steady life and it pays the bills. We just focus on making sure the quality stays the same as it was years ago.
