Pandian Hotel

Our place is located at Old No 93 on G A Road, which is right in the heart of Washermanpet. It’s been in this spot for years, sitting near the Kalmandapam Telephone Exchange. If you know Chennai, you know how busy it gets around here. There’s always noise from the street, bikes honking, and people walking by. We open up the doors early and start setting things up. It’s a lot of work getting the tables ready and making sure the kitchen is going. We aren’t a big fancy hotel with shiny floors. We’re just a local spot where you can get a meal. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it’s home to us. Most of the people who come in are regulars from the neighborhood. They know our names and we know theirs. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, especially with the kitchen heat, but we have the fans going. Sometimes it’s crowded and people have to wait a minute, but nobody seems to mind much. We just keep doing what we do every day. Dealing with the heat and the crowds is just part of life in North Chennai. Being near the exchange means we see a lot of office workers too. It’s a plain, honest kind of life here on G A Road, and we’re glad to be a part of the Washermanpet community. We just keep our heads down and work.
