Om Muruga Grains

If you walk down Sourastra Street in Nungambakkam, you’ll find us at number 31/5. It is a tight street and can get pretty crowded, but that is just how Nungambakkam is. Om Muruga Grains has been operating from this spot, dealing with all kinds of grains every single day. It is a noisy place sometimes with the bags being moved around and people talking all at once. We don't have a big fancy office with air conditioning everywhere. It’s more of a practical space where the work happens right in front of you. My staff and I spend the morning sorting through what came in and getting things ready for whoever needs them. People know us in the neighborhood because we’ve been here a long time. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just sell grains. Sometimes the rain makes it tricky to move stock, or the street gets blocked by a delivery truck, but we manage. It is an honest living. You see the same faces every week, and you get to know what people like. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us, the grains, and the customers who come through the door. We keep the place running because people need what we have, and we like being part of this busy street. It is simple, a bit messy at times, but it works for us.
