Our shop is at 158 Mint Street, right across from the old Jain Temple. If you know Mint Street, you know how crowded it gets with all the narrow lanes and people moving around. We’ve been at this spot for quite a long time. It’s a small space, but we’ve got everything we need packed in here. Every morning, we start by cleaning the glass cases and setting things out. Being opposite the temple means we hear the bells and see the crowds every day. Sometimes it’s so noisy we have to talk a bit louder to be heard. We work with a lot of different pieces, mostly traditional stuff that people around here like. It gets hot in the summer because the shop faces the sun, but we have a small fan that keeps us going. We don’t have any big signs or bright lights outside. People usually find us because they’ve been coming here for years or someone told them about us. It’s just us doing the work we know how to do. Some days are slow and we just sit and chat with the neighbors. Other days, we barely have time to drink our chai. It’s a simple life on a busy street. We just keep our heads down and focus on what’s on the workbench. We try to finish everything before closing.
