Our business is located at New No 43, though some people still know it as Old No 19, on Hanumantharayan Koil Street in Park Town. Being in Edapalayam means we are right in the middle of a very old and busy part of the city. The street is narrow and always full of people, bikes, and delivery carts. Our shop is quite tall and narrow, with shelves reaching all the way to the top. We have to use a ladder to get most things down. It’s full of paper and files, so there’s a very specific smell when you walk in. The floor is made of old stone that’s been worn smooth by years of people walking back and forth. We don’t have a fancy computerized system for everything; a lot of our notes are still written down in big ledgers. We have a couple of fans that spin quite fast but don't do much against the heat in the middle of the day. We don't have any polished marketing materials or a big mission statement. We just know our stock and we know our customers. Most of the people who come here have been doing business with us for years. It’s a bit of a cluttered place, and sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what someone is looking for. But we always find it eventually. It’s a noisy and crowded spot, but we’ve been here so long it feels just right.
