Micromatic Machine Tools

You can find us in Nelson Chambers on N.M. Road, specifically at 115 in the 4-C Block. Being in a big building like this is a bit different from a standalone workshop, but we still have that hands-on feel. We deal with machine tools, so our office is usually full of catalogs, metal samples, and parts that people have sent over for us to look at. The N.M. Road area is always busy, and the sound of the traffic outside is something we’ve just learned to ignore. We don’t have a polished corporate look; the carpet is a bit worn in places and the desks are cluttered with tools and measuring instruments. People come up the stairs or take the lift to see us when they need a specific tool for their own factory or shop. We spend a lot of time on the phone or sitting at the table going over specifications. It is not always glamorous work, but it is steady. We have a small kettle in the corner for making coffee, and that gets a lot of use throughout the day. The building is old, and sometimes the lights flicker, but it has a lot of character. We are not interested in sounding like a big multinational company. We are just a local group of people who know their way around machine tools and want to keep things simple. We spend most of our time double-checking lists and making sure everything is in the right box. It’s quiet work compared to a factory floor.
