Mathaji Store

This shop is tucked away in Okkiyam Thuraipakkam, right near the TVH flats. Being at 4/227 Kokilambal Nagar means we get a lot of people from the apartments stopping by. It’s a lot of walking back and forth behind the counter. We keep the usual things like milk, bread, and different groceries that families need daily. The area is always growing, and we see new faces all the time along with the old ones. It’s not a quiet place, especially when the school buses are dropping kids off nearby. We spend a lot of time just arranging packets and making sure the change is ready in the drawer. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to sit there in the dark for a bit, but that’s just how it is in Chennai. We don’t have a big team or anything, just a few of us making sure everything runs okay. The shelves are a bit crowded because we try to fit everything in. It’s a practical kind of place. If you need something for the kitchen or just a snack, we probably have it somewhere on the racks. Living and working near the flats means we hear all the local news. We just stay busy with the chores of the shop. It’s 600097, and we’ve been part of this little patch of the city for quite some time now. We just open up and do our work.
