Madras Chains & Slings

Madras Chains & Slings is located on Linghi Chetty Street in the Parrys area. We are at Old Number 136, which most people now know as New Number 281. It’s a very old part of Chennai, and the streets are always packed with people and goods being moved around. Our shop is filled with all kinds of heavy chains, wire ropes, and lifting slings. It’s quite a sight to see all that metal piled up. We don’t have a fancy display window or anything like that. The shop is more like a warehouse where we cut and assemble things to the right size for our customers. It’s heavy, dirty work, and we usually end the day with some grease on our clothes. We’ve had the same Post Box number, 1371, for a very long time. We aren’t really interested in the corporate way of doing things. We just like to get the orders right and send them out on time. The heat in the shop can be pretty intense in the afternoons, so we keep the ceiling fans going as fast as they’ll go. Most of our customers are regulars from the shipping and construction industries who know exactly what they need. We don’t spend time on fancy speeches. We just show them the stock and get to work. It’s been our way of doing business for decades, and we don't plan on changing it.
