If you go down Gandhi Main Road in Puzhal, you will find Kamadhenu Rice Traders at number 28/A. We have been in the rice business for quite some time now. Dealing with rice is all about knowing the different grains and how they cook up. We spend our days surrounded by bags of rice, checking the quality and making sure everything is stored properly. It’s a bit of a dusty job sometimes, but that is just part of being a grain trader. Puzhal is a busy area for this kind of work, and we are right in the middle of it. We don't have a big marketing budget or a website with lots of photos. Most of our customers are people from around the neighborhood or small shop owners who have been buying from us for years. They know they can just walk in and see what we have in stock. Sometimes the supply is a bit tight depending on the season, but we do our best to keep the bags filled. We don't use any corporate jargon here. It is just honest work, lifting bags and talking to farmers and customers. The shop is simple, with enough room for the stock and a small desk for the bills. We just like doing things the old-fashioned way, focusing on the rice and the people who eat it every day. I think we’ll be on Gandhi Main Road for a long time yet.
