Joshua Foods

Medavakkam is a busy part of the city, and Joshua Foods is tucked away on the Second Main Road in Vijaya Nagaram. Our address is 5/536, and it’s a regular building where we do all our food preparation. It’s not like a big factory, it feels more like a local kitchen that grew a bit over time. We spend our mornings getting the ingredients ready and starting the cooking process. You can usually hear the sounds of chopping or water boiling if you stand near the entrance. The street outside is fairly narrow, so we have to be careful when the delivery vans are loading up. It’s a tight squeeze sometimes. The staff is mostly from the neighborhood, so everyone knows each other well. We don't have any fancy reception area, just a place to wash up and get to work. The heat from the stoves makes it quite warm inside, especially in the afternoons. We try to get most of the heavy work done before the humidity gets too bad. People often stop by to ask what we are making because the smells drift out onto the street. It is a very hands-on job. We check every batch ourselves. It’s just a group of us working hard to get the food packed and sent out to the customers. We’ve been here for years now and it’s become our second home.
